Quiet Policy

Hamline Law Library is a designated quiet study area.  Please be courteous to your fellow students.

Silence all cell phones and limit personal conversation to the study rooms and the main floor of the library.

Computer Use Policy

Guest Log-ins and passwords may only be issued to the following persons:

  1. Hamline students, faculty, or staff (must present a current Hamline ID);
  2. Hamline Law alumni (must provide year of graduation);
  3. Guests sponsored by Hamline Law faculty or staff*;
  4. University of Minnesota, University of St. Thomas, or William Mitchell College of Law law students* (must present a current student ID); or
  5. Licensed Minnesota attorneys* (must present a current Minnesota bar license)

*Guest Log-ins may not be available after normal business hours (5 p.m. Monday - Friday and all day on weekends). 

Westlaw Patron Access terminals are available to all members of the public for Westlaw research.  Users will not be able to access word processing software or the general internet from these computers.

Anyone who does not meet the requirements above and needs access to public terminals may wish to visit the Hamline Midway Public Library located a few blocks away at 1558 West Minnehaha Avenue.

Gifts/Donations

The Library is happy to accept gifts of either library materials or monetary donations to purchase materials provided that no conditions are attached and the materials conform to the library's collection development policy guidelines. The Library retains the right to dispose of gifts at any time and in any manner deemed appropriate. The Library will not appraise the value of any gift but, upon request, the Library will provide an acknowledgement with a summary of the number and types of items donated.  Please contact Barb Kallusky, Head of Public Services, if you would like to make a donation.
