ARCHIVED-About the Law Library

About Us

The Public Services Department supports the teaching, learning, and research needs of the Hamline University School of Law faculty, students and staff by providing research, reference, and other services. We teach students how to find and use legal information, and we provide research services that support the faculty in their scholarship and teaching. The Public Services Department is located on the main floor of the Law Library.

RESEARCH SERVICES

Research services are available to students and law faculty. Make an appointment with the law librarian by phone 651-523-2131 or by email.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN

When material is not available in the Hamline Law Library, students and faculty can request it through ILL. The Law Library is able to borrow materials from hundreds of libraries around the country, providing access to many legal resources for our library users. Contact the Access and Circulation Services Librarian with questions.

CIRCULATION AND RESERVE SERVICES

Circulation Services within the Public Services Department manages the circulation of books, CDs, DVDs, and other materials to students, faculty, and other library users. Students are also able to check out materials that professors have put on Reserve from the Reserve Room.

SERVICES TO ALUMNI AND MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC

The Public Services Department provides reference services to Hamline Law Alumni and members of the public who want to use the Law Library's collections. Hamline Alumni have borrowing privileges from the Law Library.
