What about political blogs? How useful are they, and can I cite them in my papers?
Just as you evaluate web sites, Author Erik Estep suggests, in his Fall 2008 LPSS News article, "Proposal: Criteria for evaluating Political Opinion Blogs," blog readers should review the following criteria in evaluating political blogs:
1) "Who is the author?"
2) "Political affiliation?"
3) "Is the blog hosted by another site?"
4) "Is the blog archived?"
5) "Does it have a blog roll?"
6) "Does it link to other blogs?"
7) "When was it last updated?"
8) "Are comments allowed?"
9) "Do you have to register with the blog to post comments?"
10) "Does the blog provide any statistics?"
