What is SciFinder?

SciFinder is a research discovery tool that allows you to explore the Chemical Abstract Service (CAS) databases containing literature from many scientific disciplines including biomedical sciences, chemistry, engineering, materials science, agricultural science, and more.

STEP 1: Create your account

Each user must create their own account to access SciFinder. Follow the on-screen steps to complete your account creation.

Note that you will need to use your account email to set up your SciFinder account.

Create your SciFinder account

If you already have a SciFinder account, you can skip to STEP 2.

STEP 2: Log in

Once you've created your own SciFinder account, you can log in to the service using the following link. If you are off-campus, you will be asked to authenticate though the Library's proxy server first (more information on off-campus access).

Login to SciFinder now

If you do not use your SciFinder account regularly, ACS will archive your account after a long period of inactivity. Access will be curtailed and attempts to reset your SciFinder password will not work until a librarian contacts ACS on your behalf. Contact a librarian if you think your account has been archived.

Tip: login to your SciFinder account at least yearly to maintain your active account.
